Young Adult Success Stories
Long-term recovery leads to lasting change. Our program was created to help young men do just that—building lives that are stable, fulfilling, and entirely their own.
Recovery isn’t linear. It’s made up of moments: small wins, hard lessons, big realizations, and the steady work of becoming someone you're proud of. The stories below are from former Pivot residents who have walked that path. Each one reflects the power of structure, community, and choosing growth—even when it’s difficult.
If you’re wondering what’s possible after treatment, or what a young adult sober living program can really offer, we hope their words speak to you.
Real Voices. Real Recovery.
“When I arrived at Pivot, I was completely broken—physically, emotionally, spiritually. I had burned bridges with my family, lost friends, and couldn’t imagine what a future would even look like for me. I thought sobriety meant giving up everything that made life fun or interesting. I was wrong. What I found at Pivot wasn’t just structure or accountability (though those were huge). I found people who genuinely cared, who didn’t judge me for my past, and who showed up every day living a kind of peace I didn’t know was possible. They taught me that honesty matters. That community matters. That I matter. Slowly, with their support, I started believing in myself again. Today, I'm over four years sober. I have a job I love, I’m mentoring others who are early in their recovery, and most importantly, I wake up excited for the day ahead. I owe so much of that to the foundation I built at Pivot.”

“Before coming to Pivot, I had no direction and no sense of purpose. I had been in and out of treatment before, and nothing ever seemed to stick. But something was different this time. It wasn’t just about staying clean—it was about learning how to live. Pivot gave me the space and guidance to figure out who I really was beyond the drugs and the wreckage. I learned how to show up for myself and others, how to take responsibility without shame, and how to live a life that’s full of meaning. What really stuck with me were the relationships I built—real, deep connections with people who walked alongside me in my darkest moments. Recovery isn’t easy, but it’s absolutely worth it. Today I have a steady job, I’m repairing relationships with my family, and I finally feel proud of who I am. Pivot didn’t just help me get sober—it helped me become a better human being.”

“I cannot overstate the impact that this program has had on my life. When I first went to treatment, I had no intention of being sober long term and my only hope was that maybe my life could go back to the way that it was before I hit rock bottom. I can only describe the changes that I have seen in my life as a miracle. I was constantly surrounded by great people. People that showed me that being sober could be fun. People that showed me that being kind to others is the way that life is supposed to be lived. People that lived by integrity, day in and day out. People that showed me that being my authentic self is the only way that I would ever be truly happy. I had fun, I made lifelong friends, and I built a life that was bigger and more wonderful than anything I had ever experienced before. It's cliche, but it's the truth. Now, I'm five years sober, I've finished earning a bachelor's degree that was over a decade in the making, I've been accepted to graduate school to pursue a master's degree in social work, I have loving and caring relationships with an ever-growing list of friends, and my relationships with my family have never been stronger. I was shown how to build this life that I've always wanted at Pivot transitional living. I will be forever grateful to this program and the people that work hard to make it what it is. I cannot overstate the impact that this program has had on my life.”

“This program gave me a new lease on life. I came in as a young 22-year-old man with no direction, and no clue where to even begin to unpack the damage that I had done in the years prior. When I left primary treatment, I was still uncertain about whether I even wanted sobriety long term.
When I arrived in Tucson the community of individuals at CL inspired me, and the AA community in Tucson. The people here helped me understand who I am, and who I want to become. Today I am five years sober and free, because of the Barrassos’ program and the program of AA. Everyone at Pivot became a second family away from home in Charlotte, NC. I am forever grateful for the people there who saved my life, and set me on a new path.”

“I have been blessed to be a part of this program and can confidently say it has changed my life for the better. Through the help of the team at this program I have grown into a confident man who is finding his way in life. Before coming to this program I was lost, every day I was battling with my depression and addiction. Through AA and the help and support of my peers in this program I have changed and grown in ways I could not have ever imagined. My parents and loved ones are so proud of me and my relationship with them has drastically improved. I am extremely grateful for all that this program has offered me and now because of the work I have done in AA and through this program I have the opportunity to offer this same gift to others as a staff member here. Through the depths of my depression and addiction I had all but given up on myself, but the team at this program did not give up on me. Because of my experiences I am committed to helping others and continuing to improve my life alongside my peers in recovery.”

“The program totally changed my life’s trajectory. I came in struggling in just about everything, and had very little hope for the future. I left a new man, with a renewed faith in life. I continue to practice the principles and skills I learned at Pivot in my everyday life. Simply put, Pivot changed my life, and I’m so glad my family put their trust in Danny and the program.”

“Pivot's transitional living program in Tucson offers a transformative approach to recovery that helped me change my life’s trajectory. Their emphasis on the twelve-step recovery process creates a supportive community where healing and personal growth is possible. What makes Pivot successful is their focus on community and all the support that comes from that. They don't just address addiction, but they also help clients view themselves and their purpose in a whole new light.
The program's uniquely structured environment helps clients learn how to live more responsibly while their belief in compassionate guidance helps residents confront their emotions and recognize the true impact of their choices. Pivot excels at teaching accountability while providing the tools needed to rebuild damaged relationships and establish healthy connections.
Their effective approach can create lasting change with not just sobriety, but also a complete life transformation. Having been sober since August 3, 2021, and worked as a life coach at this amazing facility since 2022, I've witnessed firsthand how Pivot can help those who are willing.”

“I completed the Transitional Living Program in the early 2010’s after struggles with substance use and mental health challenges shaped my high school years. During my time at the program, I was provided with the tools, structure, and supportive community necessary to successfully navigate early recovery and develop the skills for independent living. My sobriety has remained strong, and I have stayed closely connected to the Tucson recovery community for over a decade. It is a remarkable program led by dedicated people, and I would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who is motivated to transform their life and build a solid foundation for sustainable success in long term recovery.”
