College in Recovery: You Don’t Have to Choose

A Collegiate Recovery Program That Supports Both Your Sobriety and Your Goals

College can be one of the most exciting times in life—but for young men in recovery, it can also be risky. At Pivot, we’ve created a collegiate recovery program where students don’t have to choose between staying sober and getting a great education. You can do both—and we’ll help you every step of the way.

What Makes Our Collegiate Recovery Program Work

Our Collegiate Recovery Program is designed for college-aged young adults who are pursuing higher education while continuing to recover from substance use and co-occurring mental health challenges. It’s part of our broader transitional living program, which means it includes everything Pivot offers: structure, therapy, life skills training, community, and accountability.

This track is specifically geared toward college students, however, with the extra support they need to succeed both academically and in recovery.

Sober Campus Housing & Real Support

Our residents live in beautiful housing just two minutes from the University of Arizona and close to Pima Community College. We’ve partnered with Wildcats Anonymous (UA’s collegiate recovery program) and built a framework that supports students in every area of their life.

You’ll have access to:

An academic advisor who checks in weekly to review grades and syllabi

Help with college enrollment and course planning

Built-in study hours and workshops to improve executive functioning

Tutors in science, math, English, and history

Tools to manage your time, plan assignments, and stay on track

  • We also work closely with the University of Arizona’s recovery community to make sure students can take part in college life without risking their sobriety. That includes sober tailgates, campus events, and nightlife alternatives organized in partnership with Wildcats Anonymous.

Strong Foundations: Recovery & Community Come First

This program has the same backbone as the rest of Pivot:

  • Daily structure
  • 12-step involvement
  • Licensed clinical support
  • Community service and peer accountability
  • Recreational outings and real-world life skills

You’ll be surrounded by other students who are also serious about recovery, and who understand what it’s like to be sober in a college environment.

Why Tucson for College & Recovery?

The University of Arizona is just over a mile away and offers an amazing mix of academics, research, and creative energy. And Pima Community College—less than two miles away—is a great option for students looking for more flexibility or wanting to start smaller.

Both schools are increasingly supportive of students in recovery. Wildcats Anonymous hosts on-campus 12-step meetings that regularly draw 60+ students, and UA was even awarded a grant from the state of Arizona to expand recovery resources.
